This is my first Blog.
It’s written between 12-12-2010 and 12-13-2010. It is Sunday/Monday.
On this day Redskins lost – nothing new, they are always good for a lost game.
Eagles won – nothing new too. Vick’s team wins often. Maybe they’ll win the supper bowl 2010? But, probably not.
Tomorrow we are expecting snow showers. Brrr. Cold air is going to freeze us all from New York to Florida . All the way down! Last year I haven’t seen any snow; it would be fun to be in snow this time. Only my winter clothes are in Kentucky and I don’t plan to go there soon…This takes the fun aspect on this wintrily winteriness away.
One of my best friends, the black squirrel, was as usual, very friendly to me. I gave him few peanuts. They were still in shells and without any salt or additions. As you see, I do care about my best friends.
The black squirrel was very happy and thankful. He comes always to me directly after I open the door. Sometimes I must call him and he appears immediately.
Today he sat on the ground close to the big tree, which grows in front of my windows. His tail was standing behind his butt in form of the letter “S”. Part of the letter “S” was leaning on the trunk of the tree. Mr. Squirrel looked at me happily with one eye and cracked delighted his first nut. He ate the whole inside part and left the shredded shell behind him.
Looking and smiling at me (I can tell when he smiles!) with his another eye, he is always looking only with one eye at me, he was waiting at the next peanut. He ate the second one directly too.
“The third one must be hidden,” he told me and without saying “good bye” left carrying it as a trophy in his mouth.

On Monday, we went to the post office, because I have prepared few Christmas Cards for the family and friends: Diane and Terry, Aunt Naomi and her husband Leroy, Dickie, my mom and her two friends and my uncle Edmund.
The weather was cold and the sky divided: blue sky, sunshine and from the west very dirty grey and dark clouds. It was dramatic, nice view. Of course, I haven’t the camera with me. All the time, when there is something to photograph my camera is somewhere else. I must prepare my small Nikon and put “her” in my purse, so that “she” can’t be forgotten and can always be with me.
The post office was absolutely full. TT stayed in the car and had the whole time the heat running, without heath he would be a frozen TT. J I was standing in the row for a while… It took at least one hour or more. The clerk was very nice to me. Thanks for that.
At home again. My friend Mister Squirrel, a black beauty, played today a rabbit and ate a carrot we gave to rabbits. The last ones were too slow and Mr. Rabbit-Squirrel (he was probably in his first life an Easter bunny) ate all carrots. He looked funny, a black squirrel holding in his ‘hands’ a red/orange carrot. Of course, my camera wasn’t ready to work! Sorry

Today TT said, let’s us go to the library and collect the book you have ordered. I was really happy that he was thinking about my book! Thankfully, I said, “Yes, of course!” As we were putting coats and boots, we’ve noticed that outside was snowing pretty intense. TT meant, when we leave the house right now it might be still OK. We were thinking that the roads were at least prepared for snow. The weather forecaster was speaking since days that today we’ll see snow on the ground. They were right.
As we leave, everything is white around us. As we sit in the car TT says to me, “I’m not sure if that was a good idea to leave the house right now…”
“Me too,” I answer.
As we turn to the main road, we notice that the road is completely white. This is because lots of snow is falling down and the highway seems not to be sprinkled with salt. The cars are moving slowly. We are lucky as we reach the library. I’m looking forward to collect the book. I’ll enjoy reading this book! Really.
As I get out of the car, a lady is walking also towards the library. She’s stopping suddenly and is pointing at the library’s door. I’m looking at it now… CLOSED! What? Closed? I can’t believe it. The lady tells me, “When you want to try … maybe it looks only closed and actually there is somebody inside…” I’m doing it. I see now that inside is nobody, so I confirm that the library is closed. The woman isn’t happy at all. “I hope they won’t collect money for books I couldn’t give back on time!”
I’m also not happy with this situation. We are driving here in the worst and first snowstorm of the year and they close the library! Not fun. No fun at all! Furthermore, no book too! No fun. On the white roads, we’re sliding without any incident home.
By the way, the white roads were looking pretty. So clean…

Redskins. I don’t like how the coach Mike Shanahan is treating Donovan McNabb. This isn’t the right way to work with your best quarterback. Firstly, he replaced, during the game against Detroit , McNaab with the quarterback number two Grossman. He’s done it in the last two minutes of the game. Grossman managed to produce fumble on the way to touchdown. Detroit was the happy winner. “Thank you” Mike Shanahan!
This Sunday McNabb is sitting on the bench or walking around. He looks not happy. Of course, Redskins are loosing. Grossman plays sure not his best game. McNabb, who is still better than Grossman is watching the whole activity from a distance. “Thank you”, Mike Shanahan, for the smart solution.
Shanahan is doing it only because McNabb isn’t the youngest player. He is already 34. Here we are, the discrimination of elderly begins already at thirty-four! It means McNabb isn’t going to play for a very long time in the future. Obviously, he is going to retire. Still, I don’t understand why Mike Shanahan is not discussing this with Donovan. Apparently, McNabb was also, as we all, surprised with the coach’s decision. This is why I’m thinking that Shanahan is a bad quality coach and therefore responsible for Redskins’ less good performance since Detroit . Bad atmosphere between the players (caused by coach’s questionable decisions) and lack on clarity in the leadership are causing clear losses for the team.
Yeah, Redskins lost, score 30 to 33, they could manage it with McNabb as well “good” if not much better…
After the game Shanahan said that Grossman played quite good… Since when loosing a match is positive and good? Donovan played at least the same ‘bad’, but Shanahan never told us that his performance was ‘quite good’.

We went today to the library again. This time without snow.
They still had the book ‘Angela’s Ashes’ by Frank McCourt and I was the happy one who could collect the … … … Ta-dah! … Autobiography by Mark Twain, Volume 1 first published 2010! I AM THE FIRST, PROUD READER OF THIS LIBRARY BOOK! This is my best Christmas gift!
Mark Twain – I love his autobiography! I love the way he was writing! As a child, I read his books and loved them. After this, I forgot his existence. There were so many other contemporary authors… Why should I read something what was at least one hundred years old?
Still, there was something what was fascinating on Mark Twain. I read some extracts of his ‘new’ publication and fall deeply in love, at the first glance, at the first letter he wrote. Now I have to read 735 pages – the book is huge and looks at least like a Bible – in three weeks. This is impossible. I can extend maybe for the next three weeks. It would be almost six weeks… We’ll see how much I will manage to read. I don’t have that much time and two other books want to be read too! Help!
I’m fascinated by Mark Twain’s way of writing. You would think that his language would be archaic and not easy to read. It isn’t true! His autobiography can be easily read. I simply love his writing style.
The first thing what he is telling us is, “In this Autobiography I shall keep in mind the fact that I am speaking from the grave.” It sounds somewhat spooky. Nevertheless, he is right. He didn’t allow publishing this book entirely for one hundred years. Now it is the time of publishing his autobiography. It’ll come in three volumes. The first one I’m reading now, the two others aren’t published yet.
